Unloved Fat is an Important Endocrine Organ

Fat is a lesser valued endocrine organ. It often gets overlooked by many as having little value to the body other than insulative padding. It is often regarded with much disdain connected, with negative responses and opinions that it must be banished, that fat is ‘our enemy’, that it is an unattractive, unwanted bodily characteristic which can bring shame on us and result in psychological issues. There is obviously no doubt carrying too much bodily fat around our midriffs can lead to unwanted health effects, but we seem hell bent on wanting to eradicate all traces of it, as it can morph us into shapes we find undesirable, but do ever take the time to appreciate what it is? It plays such an important role in the body’s homeostasis, in it’s internal balance and ultimately our well-being.

Dr Kashif Ali a GP based in Glasgow with a special interest in obesity is pioneering the way in the UK to use the Verju as a 'tool' in his box to help treat the problem of obesity. He is enlightened to see how the Verju will treat fat as an endocrine gland to improve the metabolic profiles of his patients to help those already struggling with conventional approaches to weight loss, and steer others who are close to crossing the 'border-line' type 2 diabetic threshold.

Adipoctye Apoptosis versus Adipocyte 'Resetting' ?

Today in the world of body contouring everybody seems set on pressing the default switch which says death to fat cells, whether this is by physically removing them through lipoplasty or creating  adipocyte apoptosis. Is it always the right thing to do? Do we need to take time out to pause about whether this is in the long term interest of our patients? Fat is an endocrine organ, and maybe we should be working with it to affect real change rather than deliver a quick fix which can result in compensatory fat being laid down where we don't want it?

The Importance of Ghrelin and Leptin in Influencing Weight Loss; how Verju laser light therapy can play a significant role in improving metabolic profiles

Ghrelin and leptin have such a big role to play in controlling our appetite and waist bands. These 2 hormones play such a crucial role with mood and hunger. Ghrelin is the hunger hormone and leptin stops appetite. If you could influence the action of these 2 hormones there is the potential to lose and stabilise weight.
A trial is currently being put together at Southampton Hospital by weight loss surgeon James Bryne and radiologist Rob Allison, to evaluate a new revolutionary key hole procedure to block the production of the hunger hormone ghrelin. A catheter is inserted via the groin to reach the celiac artery which feeds an area at the top of the stomach called the fundus. This is where 90 - 95% of ghrelin is produced. Tiny plastic balls called embospheres are released through the catheter, and they block the tiny arteries to the fundus which in turn blocks the production of ghrelin. Reduced ghrelin levels equals reduced hunger pangs. This new technique has been shown in an early -stage clinical trial to result in significant weight loss in obese patients. 7 patients lost 21 lbs on average within 6 months....................................................

Verju Green Body Contouring Laser Officially Launched in Europe at the Monaco AMWC March/April 2016

Erchonia Verju Green Light Therapy Laser was officially launched in Europe in Monaco at the AMWC. All the European distributors were there including Bodylase Medical Ltd and Erchonia Corporation US, to help support Erchonia  Europe. It was a resounding success. There is not another body contouring device like the Verju on the market. Successful Launch of Verju Green Body Contouring Laser at Olympia February 2016

Bodylase Medical Ltd successfully launched the Erchonia Verju 532nm low level laser in London at the weekend. The whole team was there to introduce the green  laser to a mixed audience of aesthetic doctors, dentists, aestheticians and clinic owners who expressed an interest in Body Contouring. The concept of using photonic energy to make a small transitory pore in fat cells was new to many who were entering the world of body contouring.

The main question asked was; "How effective can light alone be, to achieve effective outcomes for treating diet and exercise resistant fat and cellulite?" The notion that absorption of green photonic light energy is enough to do the job left many skeptical. Sounds too easy?

Our stock answer was the Verju has been granted  FDA market clearance based on a level 1, randomised, multi-centred, placebo controlled clinical trial involving 67 subjects who had to sign an affidavit agreeing not to diet or exercise throughout the whole 2 week trial. If they did they were removed from the trial.

The final outcome of the original 2010 trial submitted to the FDA, using the Zerona 635nm red laser, was an impressive  3.5" average  circumference loss, whilst with the Verju,  which delivers 25% more photonic energy, it is an astounding 4.5"! What other system on the market can achieve such amazing clinically proven results without being  heavily reliant on exercise or diet, not to mention intensive hands on  operator input after 2 weeks of treatment?

Verju is all about the wonders of photochemistry

It is really important to understand the science behind the application of the Verju in body contouring, and why it has far reaching photobiological effects, rather than just treating small localised areas as so many other  devices do. Multiple studies demonstrate LLLT has a paracrine effect on cells. Paracrine signalling is a form of cell to cell communication in which a cell produces a signal to induce changes in others. By treating one area of the body with the Verju the paracrine effect means there is a secondary cascading response to initiate emulsification further afield. Jackson et al. explored this in one of his trials:, Low-level Laser-assisted liposuction: A 2004 clinical trial of its effectiveness for enhancing ease of liposuction procedures and facilitating the recovery process for patients undergoing thigh, hip, and stomach contouring. He found that if you treated one side of the body with the Zerona those adipocytes on the other side showed evidence of emulsification.

The Verju is not only able to create a transitory pore in adipocyte cell membranes, to allow the emulsified fatty contents to be liberated, but through the remarkable powers of photochemistry it able to 'reset' fat cells as part of a larger endocrine system to function correctly. Leaner fat cells start to release the correct messages to the brain. The brain's hypothalmus  becomes sensitive again to the hormone called  leptin. Leptin helps to regulate our appetite. Engorged fat cells are found to contain high levels of leptin, but adversely the brain becomes desensitized to it, so the signal to inform us we are full is overridden. Individuals just keep eating. The problem get bigger!

The other great photochemical response initiated by the Verju is to normalise Adiponectin levels. Adiponectin is a hormone which assists the liver in the detoxification of fat and toxins. Engorged fat cells don't produce enough Adiponectin. Decreased levels of adiponectin results in a less efficient liver; muscles are less capable of utilizing glucose for energy, and thus more fat gets stored. The Verju can help to reverse this  along with other important hormones TNFa and IL-6.

Intrinsic just as important as extrinsic results!
Leaner fat cells lead to more than just  tangible extrinsic effects, e.g  smoothing  out cellulite or reducing inches, to wider intrinsic health benefits: regulated immune system, fatty acid  and cholesterol control leading to reduction in blood pressure and insulin resistance. This is why it is so important to understand the bigger picture of how the Verju can significantly improve an individual's health through the far reaching effects of photochemistry.

The Erchonia Verju 532nm Green Body Contouring Laser is to be launched to the UK aesthetic market at Aesthetic Medicine Live 2016 6-7th February, Olympia. This is the first time the Verju will make a public appearance in the UK, after making it's debut in the US in 2014. At Lipo Laser Review we are constantly on the lookout for emerging products in the beauty industry that relate to body contouring. In fact, this site includes references to a variety of technologies that do just that. McKinney, TX- June 2, 2015- Erchonia announces today that they have received their 7th 510(k) market clearance and the 2nd in 2015 from the US FDA for non-invasive fat loss which is measured by circumference reduction.
